We are watching a new kind of companion take shape.

AIPets.com is an independent project about expressive artificial companions: creatures that move, notice, remember, play, and develop continuity over time. The island on this site is a live simulation and visual prototype, not a product demo or preorder.

Why publish the field guide?

“AI pet” is already used for robot dogs, virtual animals, smart plush toys, therapeutic devices, and companion chatbots. Those products have different capabilities and risks. Our Learn library separates history, engineering, evidence, ethics, and speculation so people can make clearer decisions.

What the island does

Three randomly selected procedural creatures roam, nap, dance, meet, chase, cuddle, and occasionally disagree. Their phrases are authored in advance. The preview does not call a language model, save island progress, listen through a microphone, or use a camera.
