When you create an account, we store your email address, your display name and how you sign in: with Google, or with your email address and a passphrase. Passphrases are stored only in hashed form by our sign-in provider.

We also store your confirmation that you are at least 18, which versions of the terms, privacy and safety notices you accepted and when, and, if you joined through an earlier invitation, the country you gave. We do not ask for your date of birth.

Pet packs (.aipetframes files) and pet settings, such as a pet’s name, personality, voice and model choices, are stored privately in your account. Nobody else sees them unless you choose to share a pet.

If you add OpenRouter or Cartesia keys, we store them encrypted. We use them only to run your own conversations and voice previews, and we never send them to your devices. You can remove a key in Settings at any time.

When you talk to your pet in the browser or on a device, your recording or typed message is sent to the providers you chose, OpenRouter and, if you use Cartesia voices, Cartesia, to understand it and to write and speak the reply. They handle it under your own agreement with them.

AI Pets’ safety check, which runs on Cloudflare Workers AI, reads each message and reply.

Conversations are not saved by default, and long-term memory starts off. On a device, your pet keeps your last few exchanges for up to ten minutes so it can follow the conversation. We do not keep raw audio.

When you link a device, we store its device ID, firmware version, whether it is online and which pets are installed on it, so you can manage it and install pets.

We keep security and technical logs, such as sign-in events, device connections and request details including IP addresses, to protect accounts, prevent abuse and fix problems.

Joining the waitlist does not create an AI Pets account or guarantee an invitation. Private owner access remains restricted. Waitlist email addresses are not verified at signup; any later invitation is checked against the email address you sign in with.

When you choose Join the waitlist, we store your email address, where you joined, when you asked to hear about access, and the version of the signup notice. If you answer the optional survey, we also store your choices and note. We use this information to understand interest and contact you about private access if space opens. It does not enroll you in general marketing.

We store a hash of the survey token, not the token itself; the token expires after 30 minutes and can be used only once. Survey answers and email addresses are visible only in administrator tools. We do not sell waitlist addresses.

People who previously joined AI Pets field notes remain on that separate newsletter list under their original consent. We do not silently add them to the waitlist. The newsletter stores email, source, consent version, and signup time for build notes and launch news.

The public forms count attempts in 15-minute windows against a one-way keyed hash of the connecting address. The raw address is not written to the waitlist or newsletter tables.

New accounts are limited per connecting address and per hour. For that, we keep a one-way keyed hash of the address for one day, never the address itself. Account creation, passphrase resets and account setup can also ask your browser to pass Cloudflare Turnstile, a check that tells people from automated abuse.

• To run AI Pets for you: your account, pets, conversations and devices. This is necessary for our contract with you.
• To keep AI Pets safe and secure: safety checks, abuse prevention and security logs. This is our legitimate interest in protecting you, other people and the service.
• With your consent, where we ask for it: the waitlist, the optional survey and the newsletter. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• To meet legal obligations, for example when the law requires us to keep or disclose information.

We do not sell your personal data or use it for advertising.

These companies process personal data for us, only to provide their service:

• Vercel: hosts this website.
• Cloudflare: runs our APIs and device connections, stores private media in R2, runs safety checks with Workers AI, protects our forms against automated abuse with Turnstile and receives email sent to hello@aipets.com.
• Supabase: database and sign-in.
• DigitalOcean: media processing.
• Google: sign-in when you choose Google.
• Mailgun: account emails, such as verification and password-reset links.

OpenRouter and Cartesia receive your data only when you add your own key and talk to your pet, under your own agreements with them.

Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States and Singapore. When personal data leaves the UK, the EEA or Switzerland, we rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.

• Account data, pets and settings: until you erase your account, or sooner if you delete them.
• Conversations: not saved by default; a device keeps its last few exchanges for up to ten minutes.
• Security logs: for a limited time, then deleted.
• Waitlist entries: until you ask us to remove them or we no longer need them to contact you about access. Survey tokens expire after 30 minutes.

Depending on where you live, including the UK, the EEA and Switzerland, you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time.

In Settings you can download your account data and permanently erase your account yourself. For anything else, write to hello@aipets.com from the email address on your account, or the address you joined the waitlist with. The survey is optional, and earlier newsletter messages retain their unsubscribe option.

You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

AI Pets uses only cookies that are strictly necessary, so we do not ask for cookie consent:

• Sign-in: keeps you signed in, for up to seven days or until you sign out.
• Sign-in security: short-lived cookies, lasting an hour at most, that protect sign-in, invitations and password resets against forgery and return you to the page you were on.
• Cookie notice: for visitors from the UK, the EEA and Switzerland, aipets_region remembers for a day that we should show the cookie notice, and aipets_notice remembers for 12 months that you chose OK.

We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.

The owner studio also keeps a little in your browser’s own storage: a receipt that lets an interrupted pet upload resume, a device link code while its tab is open, and a recovery record for firmware installs over USB. It stays on your device.

AI Pets is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you think a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

We update this notice when our practices change and show the new version and date below.
