Safety & access
AI Pets separates character personality from platform safety and owner-approved access. A character can be surprising without quietly changing the rules.
01 · Platform floor
Companion Packs, memories, lore, and owner settings cannot weaken the platform floor.
02 · Owner choice
General supports broad adult conversation beneath the platform floor. Household adds stricter limits for explicit sexual material, graphic violence, hard-drug instructions, and shared-device privacy.
Custom settings may become stricter. They cannot create a weaker profile.
03 · Explicit access
A character can request access, but the owner grants it. Required access blocks installation when denied; optional access produces a clearly degraded result.
Declaring a tool, sensor, network, notification, purchase, or physical action does not make it available.
04 · Separate memory
Relationship memory and full conversation retention are separate controls. Revoking memory stops future use; deleting retained data happens through dedicated privacy controls.
Evidence before enforcement
Independent input and output checks begin in shadow mode: they measure what would happen without changing the spoken reply. Enforcement requires reviewed English evidence for critical detection, benign contrast accuracy, availability, latency, and cost.
Current limits
AI Pets is not an emergency, medical, legal, or professional service. General and Household are adult-platform choices; neither is a child-safety certification or a substitute for supervision. Safety models are imperfect, so deterministic access controls, fixed critical responses, testing, and versioned evidence work together instead of relying on a single classifier.
